Maintenance Technician
Description
As a Maintenance Technician, you install, assemble, and, when necessary, repair machinery in factories, power plants, and construction sites. You have a deep understanding of how a machine functions to assemble, disassemble, and repair it properly. This involves knowledge of technical manuals, their understanding of the equipment, and careful observation to discover the cause of the problem.
Challenge:
To keep machines mechanically in good working order, you must be able to detect minor problems and correct them before they become larger problems. For example, after hearing a vibration from a machine, the Maintenance Technician must decide whether it is due to worn belts, weak motor bearings, or some other problem. How do you quickly and accurately assess this situation without putting the entire plant on hold by taking the machine out of commission?
